Christmas Celebration at PKH Trang, 2015

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year to all!

I hope you had a joyful celebration with your friends and family.

At PKH Trang, there was a Christmas Celebration held at the Multi Purpose Hall, PKH Trang Centre. Miss Deborah Teo, Co-ordinator for the Teaching of English in Trang was kind enough to share with us some photos and activities carried out during that celebration.

” We had songs, a drama sketch, narrating the birth of Jesus, traditional dance and a sermon. Besides 300 of our students, 16 Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) members, the 4 special guests, Commune Chief, village chiefs, approximately 450 people  attended the Christmas celebration held on 25th Dec morning followed by lunch.

On the 25th evening, Movie Night, video on Noah was screened. Approximately 200 villagers watched this movie on Noah in the  Khmer language on Christmas evening.

Thanks to PKH Chbarmon, who had rendered us so much support. ”

Hope to see you this year!

Regards, PKHCambodia

The Byron Consort of Harrow School

Harrow School is one of the oldest and most famous schools in England, educating over 800 boys, all full boarders. Among its illustrious alumni, Winston Churchill is probably the best known.

The Byron Consort is Harrow’s elite vocal ensemble, founded in 2001 by Philip Evans (then Assistant Director of Music and now a House Master at Harrow) who continues to direct the choir. It consists of around eighteen Harrow boys and four adults. The choir sings a mixture of unaccompanied sacred and secular music, most of which comes from the Renaissance, Romantic and Modern periods. Many of the boys are ex-choristers from leading cathedral and collegiate choirs such as Westminster Abbey, King’s College Cambridge, Canterbury, Westminster and Winchester Cathedrals, St. George’s Chapel Windsor and Christ Church Cathedral Oxford, as well as a former member of the Vienna Boys’ Choir.

Since its inception, the choir has sung regularly at services and concerts at Harrow as well as St Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Westminster, Winchester, Canterbury and Chichester Cathedrals, St George’s Chapel Windsor Castle and various college Chapels in Oxford and Cambridge.

The choir has performed on 14 overseas trips, including Venice, Florence Vienna, Salzburg, Stockholm, Washington, in many notable venues: St Peter’s Basilica in Rome, St Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow and Trinity Wall Street & St John the Divine Cathedral in New York City.

This year is its first Asian trip to Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai, in December 2015. To find out more about them, watch youtube via this link .
