Dorn Samnang

1st January 2018 by Lendl Trazo

My name is Dorn Samnang.I’m a Christian. I’m 23 years old and the youngest child in my family. I live with my mother, my sisters and brothers altogether 6 peoples for my father passed a way.

Before I came to PKH for the Industrial Skill Course, I was a college student majoring in Civil construction year 1 at the Nation Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia. During my college, I was fully supported by my mother. She had to loan the money from the Microfinance company for me to study.

When I was in Semester 2 of year one study, I was realized that my mother can’t afford me to continue anymore for year 2 because I had to spend a lot of money everyday and especially the tuition fee and I also had no time to work for money to support myself.

By having much thoughts to all these problems, I started praying to God always, to help me and show me how to solve these problems.

One day I heard on the broadcasting of 99.5 Radio station about the Project Khmer Hope for the new 2017 admission. After hearing the news I didn’t hesitate to contact and asked for more information and happily decided to register and took the Industrial Skill Course at Aoral Centre.

I felt happy and very warm since the very first day I stepped into PKH. and it make me amazing to see the construction site of the building which was built and designed by Singaporean engineer and architect. as the ex-construction students at college of year 1, it is a mazing and very attractive to me.

After spending 9 months in PKH, I have learnt many things such as; the truth of God from Pastor teachers brothers and sisters and especially I have learnt many new things which I like and had never learnt them before and I also knew what team work is and how to work in team.I do want to say that PKH is the most warm place to stay and study.

After finish the 3 terms study, all students were arranged to do the training in the different Hotels like; some at Sokha Beach Hotel,. while some to Himawari Hotel….. as for myself at the Raffle Le Royal Hotel and after 3 months of training I became a permanent staff in the Hotel in the Maintenance department.

At last, I would like to give praise to God who answered my prayer requests and so thankful to teachers , pastor , brothers and sisters who has put their time to train and guide us in the right ways and also deep thanks to donors who donate to PKH so that Cambodian Youths have chance to study the technical skills for our bright future.

May the grace of God be continued to the needs for ever.May God bless !!

Pov Vicheka

1st January 2018 by Lendl Trazo

My name is Pov Vicheka.I was a PKH Hospitality student in 2010. I was successful in my very first interview and got a good job after graduation. But later on there were many problems in my life until I don’t want to see anyone. I felt like in the wilderness. I had the problem with my job and my family. I wanted to give up and not work in the hotel anymore. After my father passed away, more burden came upon me. I needed to find money, needed to solve all the problems in my family at the same time my personal problems too. I was very depressed and give up everything even not want to be alive.

I prayed to God, sometimes teacher Susan encouraged me. My mother is a strong Christian, she always cried to God for me. One day there was a sound from God and He told me to be stronger and walk forward. He will be with me. I started again to find job. Now I have a job in the hotel as an Assistant Front Office Manager.

I am very thankful to God who never leaves me. I can support my family and have a small land that I never have before in my life. Everything even good or bad is His blessing. Moreover, I never forget PKH who gave me the knowledge so I can work to get the money for my family and myself.

Keo Chhum

1st January 2018 by Lendl Trazo

Good evening PKH’s Family, I’m Keo Chhum, I studied hospitality and graduated in 2015. I have a younger sister and we lived with our grandparents because our parents passed away when we were young. My grandmother decided to bring me to the orphanage when I was 13 years old because she could not support me with my studies. I learned about Jesus Christ and accepted Him as my Saviour in the orphanage. I lived there for 6 years and only finished Grade 10 . Then I asked my pastor to help me to have some training and learn some skills. He introduced me to PKH and I came and got a chance to study English, Basic Computer and then Hospitality Course. At PKH Centre I have learned a lot. Teacher Susan tries hard to find a job for us after we finished hospitality course. I love F&B but unfortunately I got housekeeping as my first job. I worked as a public area attendant. As I remembered, my feeling on the first day was so sad and I really wanted to give up because most of my friends got jobs in F&B and some are in Front Office. So I felt really sad and shy. But I always remind myself not to give up and think about Teacher Susan’s words, never give up so easily and work at least 1 year in the hotel. I had been patient a lot and finally I did it. After 1 year in housekeeping as a public area attendant then I moved to another hotel in F&B department. After 1 year in F&B then I asked to transfer to front office as a Bellman. PKH has changed my life a lot and now I got a better life. And now I started to give back to the poor like myself before. My friends and I formed a small team and we contribute U$10 each person per month to buy some food items to help poor families in the provinces in Cambodia. I really appreciate teacher Susan and all PKH’s supporters for helping Cambodia. I thank God for His love and hope for us.

Vanh Sokhorn

1st January 2018 by Lendl Trazo

My name is Vanh Sokhorn. I come from Kampong Speu Province. I’m 24 years old. In my family I have only my mother and myself. My father passed away when I was young. I am the only child. My mother she is quite old around 56 years and she is a housewife. She has an illness like a person who always think so much about family. Sometimes she tries to help the villagers plant rice and get some money to support me when I was still in school. I was borned in so poor and we are staying in small house that is made of palm leaves and branches. There is no floor or room and it is so difficult to live in the house because when the rain comes everywhere leaks and the rain just comes in. My mother has to buy some rice every month and when I draw out some money, I would send to my mother to buy some medicine. I could only finish my studies at Grade10 and I really wanted to complete my studies but my mother alone could not have any money to support me. Fortuantely I heard good news from Brother KaKada in the village who was studying at PKH Centre and he told me everything in this school is free. PKH provides nice rooms for students to stay, good food, good teachers and staff to take care of the students. Students will learn Hospitality course like Front Office department, Food and Beverage Department and Housekeeping department as well. I love everything in PKH so much and it feels like my second warmest home that I can never forget . I graduated in 2014. After that my teacher brought me and others for the interview at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel. I was told to apply for Front Office department as she would like me to try first. I was so worried because I felt my English is not good enough but then I followed her . I”m very happy that I could pass the interview as a Call Centre Officer. I love my job so much and I gained much experiences for 2 year. Then I moved to Rosewood Hotel as a Receptionist and I was there for 1 year. During that time I was offered to work for a Chinese company as a translator and they offered me U$400 salary. Unfortunately, I was not paid any money after working for a month there as they accused me of cheating and not translating correctly. The Chinese owner kicked me and slapped me because of a guest who accused me of lying and not speaking the truth. I’m so happy and thankful that God helped and saved me from these gangsters. God helps a lot of poor Cambodians to have a chance to study and also God helped me to become a good son and I can now support my mother . Without Him I’m nothing . Many thanks to God and all teachers and staff who always help to care for me . In my class I was the last one who got baptised before I left the centre to start work in the hotel.

Today I am working as a Front Desk Agent at the Royal Sands Island Resort in Sihanouk Ville.
